Optimum conditions for the C-FRS project were found in the BK cavern (See 360 virtual image below) of the GTS. Since summer 2007, seven boreholes have been drilled in a fan-like pattern with numerous rock samples having been collected for laboratory analysis. The boreholes provide access for in-situ testing equipment.

Chemical analyses of the formation water have confirmed that the conditions are suitable for the in-situ experiments.
